Gloucestershire has a rich history of producing excellent apple juice, cider and perry. The area that John Barnes & Matt Adams pick their apples, from the Cotswold escarpment to the River Severn, could once have been walked hardly without leaving the shade of an apple tree. The Hagloe Crab was cultivated here, a cider apple so highly valued that a barrel of them could be exchanged for a barrel of brandy.
Today, only a handful of traditional orchards survive as a reminder of this glorious heritage. Barnes & Adams use as much of this ‘forgotten fruit’ as possible to create their Foragers Apple Juice and Tyndale Gold Premium Cider.
