Box Steam Brewery is a brewery founded in 2004, near Holt in Wiltshire (somewhere between Bath and Devizies!) by beer lover Andrew X. They’ve now been brewing for almost 15 years, never producing a factory style beer. Their creative brewers use the very best malted barley from Warminster Maltings, hop flavours to their full by using whole English hops such as Fuggles and Goldings (with some New World hops for aromatics) and a pure strain of English brewing yeast.
Their roots are firmly in the West Country, where they continue to be inspired by the engineering triumphs of the late great Isambard Kingdom Brunel, which infuses their brand throughout. Great ales at great prices, and great people to deal with.
Over 100 years ago two young men started brewing next to Isambard Kingdom Brunel’s Tunnel at Bath, and a century of brewing tradition began.
In 2004 the Roberts family restored the derelict brewery with a view to producing great quality beer to be served in their own pub estate. They named their small enterprise Box Steam Brewery. The beers became hugely successful and the family quickly out-grew the Box site so moved to new premises near Holt, where the water has unique properties ideal for brewing. Andy and family invest consistently in the technology and systems at Box Steam Brewery to deliver the highest quality beer at all times.
Today, Box Steam Brewery is a family business with a flexible, customercentric approach.
